Vivekanand Pandey Vimal is a graduate student in neuroscience at the Ashton Graybiel Spatial Orientation Lab, where he studies the role of gravitational cues on human balance control. Before coming to Brandeis, he taught physics at Waltham High School for six years and spent one year in India as a consultant to a NGO making documentaries and writing grants ranging from child rights to micro watershed development. Currently he runs a small summer research program, where high school students are paired with Brandeis graduate students and conduct inquiry based STEM research projects. This summer he has also helped start the Brandeis Multidisciplinary Consortium and a podcast rooted in science but intended to meander far beyond; everyone is welcome to collaborate. In his free time he is learning woodworking to honor a beautiful tree that fell in his yard.
