Ida Pavlichenko

Ida Pavlichenko is a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Joanna Aizenberg at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. In her research she applies the principles of bio-inspired engineering for the assembly of novel photonic materials and devices. In collaboration with a startup company at the Harvard Innovation Launch Lab, Ida is developing a wearable sensor that provides real-time, personal hydration status for athletes.

Ida earned her MSc degree in physics from the Physics Department of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia. She then received an IDK-NBT fellowship to pursue her doctoral studies in the group of Prof. Bettina Lotsch in the Chemistry Department of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany. Ida’s PhD research was focused on the development of an innovative integrated optoelectronic sensing platform based on bio-inspired “smart” stimuli-responsive photonic crystals, for which she was awarded with the doctoral degree in inorganic chemistry in 2014.
