Various individual-level socioeconomic measures have been used to examine determinants of the persistent black-white low birthweight disparity in the U.S. We are investigating a socioeconomic measure not yet examined—lifecourse household wealth. The results of this study may be utilized to inform public policies to reduce this low birthweight disparity.
